Work At Home - Virtual Call Center LiveOps

Virtual Call Center LiveOps Part 1
Working At Home - Virtual Call Center LiveOps Part 1

I have pursued and searched for many work at home jobs and ideas.  It sure is difficult to weed through all the junk and scams!  I had heard about quite a few legitimate companies on Good Morning America a year and a half ago.  I looked into some of these companies at the time but did not pursue the call center positions or anything that had to do with being on the phone because of having babies in the house.

Times have changed!  I have not only been re-looking at all of the possibilities out there but I am not excluding anything.  I have applied to a few companies that are virtual call centers that you work out of your home.  Some of them you are an employee and some of them you are a sub-contractor.  I have heard back from one of them LiveOps, and I am taking the plunge into the virtual call center world!

To read more about all the companies I have looked into for the virtual call center positions click here.

I thought I would let you know how the application process is going and how the job is going to turn out, to see if this is a work at home opportunity that may work for your family.

The process so far:

1)  Fill out their online application.

2)  I received an email stating that they were offering me an opportunity to work for them with my own business.  Within that email was more detailed information about the company, contract agreement and the requirements again for what I was needing in a home office.  (You can see there requirements by visiting their website, http://www.liveops.com/become-agent/index.html.)

3)  Make the decision if I am going to start my own business with LiveOps or not.

4)  Yes I am doing it - order background check through a third party company of their choice, cost $50.

5)  Mail in contract agreement and other paperwork from the email.

6)  Set up 2nd phone line specifically for the virtual call center calls.  My phone provider is charging me just under $30 a month for this phone line.  This will be my only extra ongoing monthly expense that our household does not already have. (ex: internet already using)

7)  I did have to buy a new phone that is corded and a hands free headset both of these together cost about $45.  (This is a bit of an investment in my opinion with the cost of the background check to get going with a virtual call center company but I have figured the beginning costs will be paid for within 8-12 hours of work.  It is worth it to our family to have a for sure source of income coming in if I put in the work.)

8)  I am now waiting for an email from LiveOps, which will be sent within 72 hours of them receiving my signed contract agreement.

9)  Once I receive the email with my login information I will then have 30 days to complete their certifications which they say can be completed within one week.

So far so good I am on track to get started before baby number three joins us at the end on March.  You may think I am crazy to be starting this now, ok maybe I am, but one of the great bonuses in my mind is the flexibility with this company.  You will be able to schedule yourself for their 1/2 hour blocks of time as long as you do two blocks of time (2 - 1/2 hours time slots) within a 42 day period.  Yes that is it for the minimum.  I plan to work a schedule that will work with my family of about 2-3 hrs in the evening after my husband is home from work for about 2-3 days a week.  I believe putting in a more consistent schedule will route more calls my way and up the hourly rate.  They pay .25 a minute that you are on the phone.  There are incentives which I will let you know about when I know about them.

That is all that has been going on in the process of starting to work at home with LiveOps, so until my email with the login information comes, happy work at home job hunting!

Virtual Call Center LiveOps Part 2
Working At Home - Virtual Call Center LiveOps Part 2

In part one of getting started working for a virtual call center, LiveOps, I left off waiting to receive an email from LiveOps once they received my completed contract.  I received that email which gave me my log-in information for their online system.

When you first log-in you go directly to your training page.  Here you read information and watch presentations on different aspects of LiveOps and then you have to take there corresponding quiz.  Don't worry if you are not the test type you get to take it over and over until you pass! :)

After you have completed the basic information for LiveOps and the corresponding quizzes you then move on to read information on certain companies that you will be answering calls for.  This was a little more confusing because you are reading scripts to yourself out loud and looking at all the possible questions someone could ask you about the product, but you are not actually having a conversation with someone.  It was hard for me not to have the back and forth conversation.  My tip here, it is OK, surprisingly it will all come together fairly easily in the end.

Once you have completed all the company specific quizzes you now are ready to take calls!  You are????  That was my feeling about being ready to take calls.  Last night was my first attempt.  After the first call there was no turning back!  Yes there was a bit of slowness on my part as I did get familiar with finding and answering certain questions but surprisingly like I said before it does all come together.  These seven calls I was able to take last night (in about two hours) were the beginning of my "training calls".  You have 30 calls that you need to make within that 30 day period, which started when you received your log-in information.

Now whenever I am reading information looking at work at home opportunities I always wonder can you really make decent money or any for that matter with what they are telling you.  So for anyone out there looking into the LiveOps opportunity I will give you that extra information that you are looking for!  Remember LiveOps will pay you .25/minute that you are on the phone and there are some incentives with up sells and certain products.  So last night for about 2 hours of my time and seven calls (so you are not on the phone necessarily the whole time) I invoiced LiveOps today for $27.04 which consisted of $1.15 incentives, or more then the .25/minute.  I am very happy with this for my first time ever taking calls!  It ended up being about $13.52 an hour.  So yes anyone like me who is really wondering what .25/minutes would add up to with the variables of how much you are actually on the phone, now you have at least one example.  As I keep going I will update how much I am making for those who would like to know this information.

To conclude the set up and training for starting a business with LiveOps, a virtual call center, I would have to say this has been a minimum cost start up for a quick return of income producing activity.  The start up costs will most likely be paid for by the time I have completed the 30 training calls.  If you think LiveOps is something you may be interested in I would say try it!  You don't know until you try and there is a minimum time commitment where you recoup your upfront costs.  Good luck in your ongoing pursuit to work from home!

LiveOps Training Calls

I have finished my 30 training calls and have an update for those of you who would like to know the financial benefit of starting a LiveOps business.

It took 5 different times of being on the phone for me to accumulate my 30 calls.  With a few incentives for extra offers taken by callers I ended with $111.31 to invoice to LiveOps for my calls taken.  It roughly was about 9 hours of my time worked including on and off the phone time.  This came to $12.27 per hour which I am extremly happy with, especially with it being my first training calls.

LiveOps Post-Training Calls

Taking Calls for LiveOps After the Training Period

I have found that it is getting significantly harder to receive the times and calls that I was seeing during my training calls with LiveOps.  I'm sure part of this is that they want you to get your training calls completed so they make sure to route a lot of calls to people who are in training.  Now however I have logged-in "uncommitted" and found that I received NO calls.  "Uncommitted" means that I did not commit to work at that scheduled time but that I am logged-in to take the over flow of calls.

When you are new with LiveOps you only see 4 days of the schedule at a time and by the time you see the next day, most of the "commit" slots are taken.  I only have a specific time that I can work with having little ones at home and I am finding that it must be the same time everyone else wants too.  Right now, as I am updating you with my experience with LiveOps, I am "committed" or scheduled to work and waiting for the phone to ring.  Because it is a Sat. there should be more calls - I will keep you posted!

UPDATE....

I "committed" to two 1/2 hour slots, I am now finished with those two slots and I will have to say I am quite disappointed.  I received one call and it was at the very end of the second time slot.  To give you an idea what I made for the one hour of work, about $4.00.  I thought because I had not committed to time before was why it was slow but now committing and it being a Sat. (prime infomercial times) I thought it would be different.  Like I said I am disappointed!  This will not be a way to pay for the extra phone bill and bring in extra income if I can not get the time slots I need or calls once I do get those slots.

A Word of Warning

I do believe if you have a very flexible schedule and a large amount of time that you could commit to working for LiveOps, this is still a good legitimate opportunity to work from home but......

In a situation like mine, limited time commitment with small children, I do not know how well it will provide for a very part time job with an added expense to consider.  Again, you have to do what is right for your situation and your family.

As always, good luck job hunting!!!!
