(Ash Wednesday) is the 40 days (excluding Sundays) before Easter. For many families, Easter just happens. Don't

Tuesday, February 23rd: MY PLANT
(PDF ebook) A simple nature-study project, written for younger students, about growing a plant from seed and keeping
a four week observation diary of its growth. Gently written, with an example "plant diary" kept by an
8 year old boy over 100 years ago. This is a great activity to start now in anticipation of the coming springtime

In this classic read aloud book, published way back in 1878, author Nesbitt creates an amazing fantasy land not

Little Article, etc.) and all are governed by the stern but wise old Judge Grammar. It's a fun, fascinating
way to learn some of the basic grammar rules all the while carried along by the very memorable characters and a

Feb 18th: DISNEYLAND DREAM (streaming video) In July 1956, the five-member Barstow family of Wethersfield, Connecticut, won a free trip to newly-opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California, in a nationwide contest. This 30-minute amateur
documentary film tells the fabulous story of their fun-filled, dream-come-true, family travel adventure, filmed
on the scene at Walt Disney's "Magic Kingdom" by Robbins Barstow. In December 2008, this delightful film
was named to the National Film Registry by the Librarian of Congress. Wonderful "real life" trip back into
the 1950s! ---------

teeth: what they are, why we need them, how teeth do their work, animals & their teeth, baby teeth, molars,
permanent teeth, wisdom teeth, the right way to brush, cavities, etc., etc. Very enjoyable text, and well illustrated with great line drawings. --------- Tuesday, Feb 2nd: The Mysterious Pirate Pit (MP3 audio) Almost
200 years ago, three boys found an odd tree and a shallow round pit on deserted Oak Island in Nova Scotia and realized
that they may have actually stumbled across buried pirate treasure. But when they started to dig... they were amazed
and mystified at what they found. This is an amazing story about one of the most mysterious and fascinating puzzles
ever devised. Kids LOVE this story! ---------
Wednesday, Feb 3rd: MOTHER GOOSE FINGER PLAYS (PDF ebook) A
neat vintage collection of Mother Goose rhymes, with accompanying finger activities and games, compiled by Irene Margaret

child. It is a walk through the first nine months of life, lead by two adventurous narrators, Carl and Tickles. Children will enjoy their antics while learning important life-affirming information about how a baby grows inside
