Seasons of A Stay At Home MomThere are seasons of a woman's life and seasons of a stay at home mom.
I was just listening to a recorded program
of Focus on the Family and wanted to share an interesting thought.
As stay at home moms we sometimes feel
like laundry and cooking is all we ever do. Right now with three children under three, diapers and laundry is the only
thing I feel that I do! You hear everyone tell you to soak it all in that the time goes fast. I agree with this
statement but when you are in the day to day of it all, you sometimes forget that it is going fast.
Growing
up in the culture that we now have has given stay at home moms a feeling of being unsuccessful because they stay at home.
This is not true at all! The most important job is the job of raising the future generation.
If I am
being honest I have a tendency to be looking for the next best thing to help me feel content in "just" being a stay
at home mom. Finding that work at home opportunity that will help me to feel successful, so that I can have the best
of both worlds. (Here is where the radio program comes in.)
The speaker said to look at
your age when your youngest child would be out of high school. You can still do this if you are planning to have more
children. Just add a few more years to your number. So if I take my family as an example, my youngest is a new
born. Add 18 years to my age and you get 44 to add another baby we will say it will be 47 - 50. So with the
highest number if I chose to start a career when my babies are grown I would be 50 years old. At the retiring age
of 65, that is 15 years to pursue a working interest outside the home. Fifteen years is almost raising another child!
WOW! This was an eye-opener for me. Instead of using these precious years with my babies looking for the
next best thing to fulfill that "success" mentalilty that the world is feeding us, I need to spend these quickly
passing years fulfilling the God given role of being a wife and mother.
Lately (ok maybe not just lately), I feel
that I am having a hard time just focusing on my family. Again, being raised in the world's mindset of success trains
you to be looking outward when what you should be successful at is staring you right in the face asking you to read that book
for the millionth time!
I hope that this has nudged your eyes open a little bit, to see where your focus should
be and to enjoy the blessing of being a stay at home mom!!!

It's Crazy Over HereHaving three kids has made things a little crazy over here! We are now getting into the hang of things, I hope!
The website is getting a new face lift as some of you may have noticed. I will be working on new content and updating
it frequently.
New updates today: Check out the Homeschooling page as well as the FREE Homeschooling Curriculum
page. I hope you find Savvy Christian Mom to be an excellent resource for your homeschooling family!
